Rookie Racers of the Year - Ted and Caryn D.

Rookie Racers of the Year

Ted and Caryn are true Fagowees, major partiers who still show up to ski and race the next morning.  They brought coolers of Sidecars to drink on bus trips to ensure that we would all be hungover with them the next day.

They both won hardware through perseverance and the learning curve in their respective classes, although Ted might have won hardware sooner if he would have remembered to finish BOTH runs of a race with ALL of the equipment with which he started the race.

I Chucked Up - Clark F.

The kicker this year was a rookie racer who decided to show us all a new way to chuck up a race weekend.

Apparently, Clark loves to dance to the song "Brickhouse".  While everyone was partying on Friday night at the Inn on the Lake before Bristol 1 races, Clark decided to show us all his great moves to "Brickhouse".  He was boogie-ing around the dance floor having a great time, doing split jumps and spins, looking good when he got too close to the edge of the dance floor.  He jumped up and landed in a split jump but was on the tile near the bar and went much farther down into the splits than before.  Witnesses saw his face go white, then green, then sweat profusely as we all knew that his hamstring was a goner.  Clark was carried up to his hotel room as he did pass out but was game enough to show up the next day to perform his work assignment at the scoreboard.

Fortunately, Clark recovered quickly only missing a few races.  Still, he showed us all that you don't even have to be on the slopes racing to earn the "I Chucked Up" award.

Broken Tomahawk - Dave Z.

Broken Tomahawk

We had one injury to a racer while actually racing and in front of witnesses.  This racer injured his shoulder on the GS course at Bristol 1by somehow managing to fall, pop out of his bindings and have the ski come back and hit him  hard while his body was still heading downhill.

Unfortunately, it took him the rest of the season to recuperate although he did attend several races and stood around and talked to the rest of the ski teams. While he may not have received enough sympathy from everyone, especially his wife, he does receive our broken tomahawk award, Dave Z.

Most Improved Female - Renae D.

Renae came out and raced more this past season than ever before which paid off for her.  She had 2nd most points for Fagowees women taking a lot of hardware.  She bumped to the big hill, adapted to the new class and took more hardware!

 Most Improved Female
Most Improved Male AND Most Points Male - Rich J.

Double Dippin'

Rich also took a lot of hardware and bumped up a class.  He was a different racer at the end of the season as compared to where he was in January.  His race technique improved tremendously which was how he bumped and took hardware in his new class on a GS course which was not his strength.  (Maybe it is now.)

Points: 1st place:  228 points spread between two classes (see above notes)

Most Points Female - Jill N.

1st place:  345 points --Jill came in 2nd place the first race of the season and then won every single race after that giving her the highest point total in all of CMSC.
