Fagowee of the Year - Shelli S. Fagowee of the Year The Fagowee of the Year award goes to a person who has done a lot for the club for the past year. This year’s winner goes to someone who has done  a A LOT for the club for a number of years. She joined the club and jumped right into promoting it by becoming the Publicity Chair. Further, she was even the past Fagowee Queen. If you don’t know who I’m talking about by now, you’re cut off.  After a few years of doing an excellent job at that post, she is now the Web Chair for the Club. She has introduced many new and exciting internet features for the club and started the weekly email update so we know what’s going on. Also, she has run the popular rafting trip for a number of years. This year she has picked up the Halloween Party this October. Let’s all raise a glass to Shelli S!! Rookie of the Year - Tom C. The trustees are pleased to present the Fagowees Rookie of the Year award to Tom C. Since joining the Fagowees “Red” has attended many events, partied well, became a friend to many, and joined our race team as a knuckle dragger.  Recently, I have heard him talk about crossing over to skis! He is credited with running some of the Monday night bike riders into the ground.  Tom has frequented the Monday night bike rides and he is tough to keep up with, back pack and all.  It’s refreshing to see a youngling beat us down in yet another event.  But curious minds want to know, what the hell is in the back pack anyway? He was almost lost on the ride in Rocky River when thinking he had plenty of room while going thru a traffic light at Puritas and the parkway.  I guess it was REAL close.  Tom, “Hockey Hips”, offered up the idea about going to our local ice rink and reminded us how much fun it is to ice skate.   He is currently adding fresh ideas about where to have our informal meetings this summer since his involvement in the club now includes holding a board position, Vice President.  Congratulations Tom!  Rookie of the Year Trustees Award - Ivette V. Trustee Award Recipient It started out as a normal day, with a group of friends getting ready to play hooky from work, and go skiing. This person shows up at Lakefront, ready to board the bus for Ellicottville. In his jammies, he goes into the office and asks, “Where’s the bus to Ellicottville”? The reply was “What bus to Ellicottville, there is no bus to Ellicottville.” So he drives home, and makes a phone call. When asked if he would like to join the group, his reply was “Hell yeah! I’m up, dressed, off work, and my car is packed!" So the kind friends, on their way to Holimont, decide to pick him up on the side road. They were expecting to see someone in their jammies, holding skis, with a sign reading “Ellicottville or Bust”. He hops in the back of the van (with all the equipment), and heads off to Holimont, for what was one of the best days of skiing all season! So the Trustees Award goes to Ivette V, who forgot to call David J, thus putting the events in motion. Ski Queen - Caryn D. This is really a bittersweet moment. The past year has seemed to just FLY by…was it really a year ago today, that this tiara was placed on my head? Yes…and despite the copious amounts of alcohol, I remember that moment so vividly…specifically when they handed me the flowers as they crowned me, and the top of my dress fell off of my right shoulder…although, no one UP there with me seemed to notice…but mikeyD sure did…and hes got the pictures to prove it. Sorry mike…those didn’t make it onto the website. I know the webmaster. Wow…its just been an incredible year…I never would have thought I woulda DUG this queen thing so much!…I mean, despite the fact that I LOVE to wear a FABULOUS dress… im not really A GIRLIE GIRL. I play with dirt. I pee in the woods. I go for days without showering on the trail…so for me to get excited about a sorority like group of peeps and performing in a beauty pageant…who’da thunk it?? NOTE: im not raggin on the greek life. Im just saying that *i* was never one to pledge phi-delta-CMSC, ya know? (that COULD be why we got ROBBED in the queen pageant!!) Im really excited be a part of the CMSC Queen Committee and a part of our new queens experience. The dedication that the committee gave to me, I want to pay it forward. And not just for good will, but because I want to enjoy it as much as they do. I want our new queen to enjoy it as much as I did. I want them to have the same experience, the same fun, and create the same memories that I now have. And I want to thank the ladies on the committee…and all of you, my fellow Fagowees, for giving THAT to me. So now….for one last time, I will remind you of the two ladies you have chosen to receive this honor. Our own Facebook addict Leasa N and our pigtail sportin’, racer girl Caryn D. Two INCREDIBLY cool babes… we couldn’t have picked a better duo! Beauty. Drive. Dedication…and beer chugging talent! They both make the cut! Like myself, both ladies have been in the club just a short time before nominated for queen. And that shows how much they are loved. In fact…they are loved So much by members of this club, that the winner won by TWO. SMALL. VOTES. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? Two. A tight race indeed. But. Only one can win.
